Are you an LFP member looking for something to do? Here is a list of things you can do, right now, in LFP (contact info at libraryfreedom dot org to let staff know what you want to work on):

  • LFP Wikipedia page overhaul: The LFP Wikipedia page is out of date and embarrassing, but LFP staff aren't really allowed to update it per Wikipedia's rules. This task would involve working with LFP staff to identify improvements needed to the page, using or creating your own Wikipedia account, and adding updated text.
  • Help with resource creation: LFP staff is creating a board packet focused on intellectual freedom and privacy. This is for public libraries, but there's definitely possibility for these resources to be adapted for an academic or other library environment. This task would entail working with LFP staff to identify needed resources, writing them, and making them look nice in Canva.
  • Help create resources to support teaching library patrons about labor organizing and their rights.
  • Help run a powermapping hackathon at a future conference.
  • Reprise of the teen meme project.
  • Help create more youth services focused resources.
  • Help create or collect patron-positive codes of conduct.
  • Help create a community council for LFP, which would handle internal conflict, and find others to be part of the council.
  • Help figure out what LFP institutional membership looks like.
  • Help identify new LFP board members, or volunteer for the board.
  • Translate LFP resources into Spanish, identify resources needed for Spanish-speaking populations.
  • Help create a welcome packet for new members.
  • Create a tabling packet for LFP members to take to conferences.
  • Help finish the reproductive privacy resource packet.
