====== Camp fees ======

LFP Camp is on a sliding scale, and we asked what you could pay in your RSVP form. The general fee for those who can afford it is $250. You can make your payment to camp via Zelle, Venmo, Cashapp, credit card, or check. Contact Alison to arrange your payment method.

====== How we are organizing this agenda ======
If you are driving to camp, you will park in the Labadorf lot. Drive all the way in from the main entrance on the main road, and you will basically run right into the Labadorf building. Taxis and rideshares should also take you directly to this point. Don't get dropped off at the main entrance because it is quite a walk to the Labadorf building.
+
We have two categories of breakout sessions on our agenda: Structured Sessions, and Collaborative Conversations.

If you are taking a flight, you should plan to arrive at Newark Liberty International Airport. Train travelers should arrive at Newark Penn Station. We have arranged shuttle buses to go from EWR and Penn Station to camp.
+
Collaborative Conversations are meant to be more of an open discussion, with no expectation that facilitators need to prepare notes, slides, or other materials in advance (however, if you wish to do so, it would be welcome and we can discuss). Participants in these conversations will be asked to bring their own ideas. Facilitators are expected to designate someone to take stack (“stack” is the list names of those waiting to speak), a notetaker, and a timekeeper, help uphold our community agreements (which we will discuss at length in the convening introduction) and generally help the conversation flow.

The shuttle bus will pick up at Terminal A passenger pickup (there should be an area for bus pickup).
+
Structured Sessions are where facilitators will prepare and then deliver to the group a 20-30 minute presentation, followed by a group discussion. Some of these sessions will have pre-readings, which we will share prior to the event. Facilitators are also expected to designate someone to take stack (“stack” is the list names of those waiting to speak), a notetaker, and a timekeeper, help uphold our community agreements (which we will discuss at length in the convening introduction) and generally help the conversation flow.
Alison will be in touch with the driver directly on Friday.

Shuttle bus schedule - this is subject to change, but as of August 15th this is our schedule.
+
On day two, we will break into affinity groups organized around subjects that participants wish to continue collaborating on after the convening.

Friday, September 20th:

===== Covid protocols =====

===== Covid protocols =====
We will be asking all campers to show a negative covid rapid test upon arrival to camp or prior to arriving. We will also have many additional tests (as well as masks) available at the camp. Most of our time at camp will be spent outside, other than indoor activities like eating, sleeping, and using the bathroom. We encourage all campers to mask indoors when possible. Many of the camp activities outside will take place in an open-air stadium-style seating space, and the rest will be in open outdoor camp in different areas.
+
* Please rapid test before you come and wear a mask if you feel sick.

At our last camp, we used a red/yellow/green stickering system on nametags to indicate covid caution levels. We plan to use this again, likely defined as follows:
+
===== What to bring =====
* Red sticker: please mask around me at all times
+
* Casual, comfortable clothing and shoes
* Yellow sticker: please mask around me indoors
+
* Business cards
* Green sticker: masking according to others' needs
+
* Refillable water bottle
 +
* Notetaking equipment of your preference
 +
* Bug spray

Intro[edit]

We're so excited to welcome you to Common Ground for Intellectual Freedom, a two-day in-person convening for librarians and our allies working to defend intellectual freedom. This event is co-hosted by Urban Librarians Unite, Library Futures, Library Freedom Project, and EveryLibrary Institute, and sponsored by the Mellon Foundation.

Common Ground will be held October 20 to 22, 2025 near Little Rock, Arkansas

Common Ground will be a two-day convening of approximately 50-70 library workers and fellow travelers from the policy and advocacy space.

Our agenda will focus on peer-to-peer learning and skill-sharing, intending to build our collective power and resilience, and drawing upon the shared expertise of our communities.

This convening will enable front-line staff and advocates to create immediate, practical tools and connections to bring back to our home communities and advocacy spaces. A secondary goal is to bring new, aligned voices in civil rights, community organizing, and on-the-ground policy and advocacy into ongoing coalition work around intellectual freedom to create new connections and communities of practice.

Agenda[edit]
How we are organizing this agenda[edit]

We have two categories of breakout sessions on our agenda: Structured Sessions, and Collaborative Conversations.

On day two, we will break into affinity groups organized around subjects that participants wish to continue collaborating on after the convening.

Prior to the in-person convening, we will be hosting three optional virtual information sessions for Common Ground participants. Here are the dates for the information sessions:
