Week 5: Conversation week
- Real time lecture: June 21st 10 am Pacific/1 pm Eastern
Overview
Some weeks at LFI, we'll take it a little easier. These weeks we won't have a guest speaker or assigned readings, we'll just talk amongst ourselves about what we're learning and thinking about. This week's Zoom call will be just that, since many of us will be at ALA.
Readings
No readings this week, but here are some lectures from the last round of LFI that you might find useful for conversation, given what we've already discussed:
- Kade Crockford from the ACLU of Massachusetts on CCTV usage in libraries: https://vimeo.com/276286612
- Eva Galperin from Electronic Frontier Foundation on threat modeling: https://vimeo.com/278193653
- Freddy Martinez from Lucy Parsons Labs on law enforcement surveillance: https://vimeo.com/280813702
Guest lecturer
Alison will lead the discussion; please come prepared to talk with the rest of your cohort about thoughts and questions so far.
Discussion
We'll continue the discussion on the forum based on questions raised in our real-time discussion.
Tasks
- Conversation, discussion forum, and small group work
