Week 25: Privacy for artists: a case study
- Real time lecture: November 8th 10 am Pacific/1 pm Eastern
Overview
Heath Bunting has been making technology-based artworks since the 1990s, challenging negative aspects of the Web, telephone culture, and other means of telecommunication. A frequent theme for him revolves around privacy and anonymity. He has made pieces showing people how to circumvent Customs and Border Patrol agents, as well as a piece showing people how to construct new identities. His artwork has gotten him banned from entry to the US. His Wikipedia entry says, "Bunting's work is based on creating open and democratic systems by modifying communications technologies and social systems."
