Week 23: Privacy stakeholder dialogues
- Real time lecture: October 25th 10 am Pacific/1 pm Eastern
Overview
While it is important for librarians and library staff to internally plan and review their processes and procedures surrounding data capture, use, and privacy, it is also critical to engage with major stakeholders for improved transparency and dialogue about decisions. Abigail Goben, Associate Professor at the University of Illinois at Chicago, will share her current research on the Data Doubles project, which is examining undergraduate student perceptions of libraries participating in learning analytics. We’ll discuss identifying all of your stakeholders, questions they may have, potential options for gaining regular engagement, and balancing various groups. Participants are encouraged to consider data currently being captured, how they could share that information with their patrons, and what the impact of sharing may be.
