Things to know before your arrival

What to bring
Wear comfortable, casual clothing. Bring proof of a negative covid test, a mask, and additional covid tests if you wish. Bring something to take notes. The venue has wifi. Bring any swag that you want to share with other attendees - eg zines, union buttons, fun stuff from your library.

Covid protocols
Due to a rise in COVID infections, we are requiring masks to be worn during the weekend, and negative tests from all participants upon arrival, and will have some extra tests available. We will open windows in the venue, weather permitting. Our meeting space may not make much physical distancing possible. If you are not comfortable in this type of space, we'd love to welcome you to one of our many virtual trainings - contact info@libraryfreedom.org for more information.
Agenda draft
Most of the time together will be fairly open-ended with ample time for discussion. We may do a couple of lecture-style presentations on Friday evening, and we may also do an agenda setting activity where we prompt people to share what they want to discuss. - training and conversations /how to approach all the information and give both public and librarians information about privacy for both library and public
- building grassroots support
- serving homeless patrons

- specific roles/help that LFP needs
- the best way to respond to those these First Amendment audit incidents in libraries

- collection development policies
- how to address challenges and bans in the library
- a conversation on Palestine and other countries that are experiencing genocide and how libraries can speak up and out against the continuous genocide
- discussions on building support for unions
- something about the power of southern libraries and archives!
- strategies and ideas for unionizing (existing movements, potential for collaboration/regional union, etc.)
- censorship, book bans, intellectual/academic freedom (regional solidarity, action steps)
- training opportunities for academic libraries
- academic librarians networking with colleagues in public libraries
- opportunities for academic librarians to teach workshops and write grants with colleagues working in public or other libraries
- vendors and privacy
- issues related to patrons' privacy, confidentiality, and social justice
